Health data is held to a higher bar
Steps, sleep, weight, heart rate and meals say more about you than most of what you type into a phone. We treat them accordingly, and separately from ordinary account data.
- Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest.
- Stored under your account only. No shared analytics table, no “anonymised” copy sold on.
- Access by Fitfly staff is logged, and only on request during a support case you opened.
- Never used as training data for machine-learning models.
Connected devices and services
When you link a watch, ring, scale or a platform like Apple Health or Health Connect, we read only the data types you approve at the point of connection, and only while the connection is live. Unlink it and we stop reading immediately. The readings already imported stay in your history until you delete them. See Devices we support.
What your employer can see on a Teams plan
This is the question we get most, so plainly:
- They see aggregate participation — how many people joined a challenge, total team steps, whether the group hit a target. Leaderboards show only what a participant has opted into showing.
- They never see your individual steps, weight, sleep, heart rate, meals, workouts, or the fact that you skipped three weeks.
- Aggregates are suppressed below a minimum group size, so a small team cannot be reverse-engineered into one person’s numbers.
- Leave the company or the plan and your personal account and history come with you. Your employer cannot delete or export them.
Accuracy — the honest part
Every figure in Fitfly is an estimate produced from sensors that drift. Phone step counts miss steps when the phone is in a bag. Wrist-based heart rate struggles with tattoos, cold hands and hard intervals. Sleep staging inferred from movement and heart rate is an educated guess, not a polysomnogram. Calorie burn is a model, and calorie intake is a model fed by your own estimate of a portion size.
Use the trend, not the decimal place. A readiness score that drops for three days is telling you something; a score of 71 versus 74 is not.
Not a medical device
Fitfly is a wellbeing tracker, not a diagnostic tool, and it is not regulated as a medical device. It cannot detect, diagnose or rule out any condition. Nothing it shows you should delay you seeking care.
Please speak to a clinician before starting a new regime if you are pregnant, managing a heart, metabolic or respiratory condition, recovering from injury or surgery, or have a history of disordered eating. Fitfly lets you turn off calorie figures and weight tracking entirely — in Settings, under Numbers you’d rather not see.
Getting it out, or getting rid of it
